Your application will be reviewed by our admissions team to assure eligibility. Once they are satisfied, you will be sent an invitation to book an interview slot with one of our Admission Coordinators. For PhD applicants, your interview will take place with both an Admission Coordinator and the Dean of the PhD program. The interview will be conducted on Microsoft Teams.
During your interview, you will be asked about your application and motivation to study at MU Vienna.
We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic students who are engaging and conduct good conversational English. This is also your chance to ask any questions you might have.
The relevant Dean for the program you are applying for, will then evaluate your application in line with what our Admissions Coordinator has recommended and a decision on your admission will be made.ADMISSION DECISION
You will be notified by email of the decision made by the Admission committee. Successful acceptance will either be ‘full’ or ‘conditional’. If you have been conditionally accepted, you may be asked to submit further documents (for example; final high school certificates and transcripts that you may not have access to yet) or be asked to complete a Foundation semester or pre-requisite courses.

International Schools Curriculum
If you have attended an international school in any country and followed an American, British, or International Baccalaureate curriculum, please review the admissions criteria specific to your curriculum below.
For direct entry the student must provide an IBDP (International Baccalaureate Diploma) with min. 24 points. One of the following scores for Mathematics is required:
- Math Studies score of minimum 5 points, or
- Math Standard Level score of minimum 4 points, or
- Analysis and Approaches SL minimum 4 points or HL minimum 3 points, or
- Applications and Interpretation SL minimum 4 points or HL minimum 3 points
In case the Mathematics score is lower than the required points the student must complete our Mathematics Foundation course. This course represents an additional class in Mathematics which can be taken throughout the first semester of studies.
In case the student graduates with IB Certificates instead of the IBDP, then the student will be eligible to enrol to one of our bachelor programs based on the following conditions: completing our one semester Foundation Programs in Business or Technology, as well as an entrance examination. The student can apply directly for the bachelor's program of their choice and will receive a conditional admission.
Students following the IB Careers Programme are welcome to also apply for a Bachelor’s program and their profile will be assessed individually to determine if the Foundation course is required prior to acceptance onto the degree program.
The student must complete 3 general, independent subjects at GCE (A Level) with a minimum grade of C
- Two of these must be either a Language, History, Geography, Social studies/Politics, Business/Economics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Computer Science.
- The third subject must be independent of the other 2 subjects from either the list above or below subjects: Art & design, Drama and Theatre, Music, Philosophy, Physical Education, Psychology, Religious Studies
In case applicants have 3 A-Levels that are not independent of each other, an entrance examination or additional classes may be offered following an admission assessment.
In case the student graduates with less than 3 A-Levels, then the student will be eligible to enrol to one of our bachelor programs based on the following conditions: completing our one semester Foundation Programs in Business or Technology, as well as an entrance examination. The student can apply directly for the bachelor's program of their choice and will receive a conditional admission.
The student must complete a High School Leaving Certificate with a minimum GPA score of 3.0. Additionally, we require either:
- 4 APs (including math and a language), or
- SAT test results with the following scores, or
New test: A score of at least 1360 points shall be shown in the sections Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. With a score of 1220 points, the evidence of supplementary achievements to the extent of 1 academic year is required. Alternatively, foundation program for 1 semester will be recommended.
Old test: For high schools diplomas before March 2016, the following scores are applied: A score of 1300 points in the sections Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. With 1150 points the evidence of supplementary achievements to the extent of one academic year is required.
- ACT min. 29 points (composite score).
With 23 points (for diplomas up to May 2014) or 25 points (afterwards), the evidence of supplementary achievements to the extent of one academic year is required. Alternatively, foundation program for 1 semester will be recommended.
In case the student graduates with a lower score or decides to solely complete the High School Leaving Certificate, then the student will be eligible to enrol to one of our bachelor programs based on the following conditions: completing our one semester Foundation Programs in Business or Technology, as well as an entrance examination. The student can apply directly for the bachelor's program of their choice and will receive a conditional admission.
TRANSFER CREDITS
Course and examination credits obtained at an external higher education institution (including, only English taught subjects from Austrian vocational high schools with a business or hospitality focus, universities, colleges, or any other higher education institutions) may be eligible for credit transfer according to an equivalency evaluation that is based on a review of course contents, outline, methods, and final grade.
Important information: New students have to first submit an application through our portal for your desired study program. After you submit your application and secure an interview. Once you are accepted, sign your study contract and make your first tuition payment, you can proceed with your application for credit transfer as outlined below. The reduction from your credit transfer will be applied to your second tuition payment.
Practical experience acquired by the student prior to enrollment may be credited towards an internship when in accordance with the respective study regulations and the requirements outlined in the Internship Manual.
Step 1: Fill out the Application for Credit Transfer and attach the following supporting documents:
A) Credit Transfer for Academic Courses:
Credit Transfers from Austrian Vocational Schools: Academic Transcript of Record (Zeugnis) listing all courses credit transfer is requested for;
Credit Transfers from national and international higher education institutions: Academic Transcript of Record listing all courses for which a credit transfer is requested and respective course syllabi (i.e., course description referring to the course title, weekly hours, course type, ECTS and expected learning outcomes for the respective course).
B) Credit Transfer for Practical Experience:
A work certificate or reference letter from your employer confirming where you worked, your duties and the time period of work;
An internship report;
A project report (only for requests seeking credit of full 900 hour internship);

Step 2: Send your signed form and all supporting documents to the Academic Office prior to the commencement of your studies at MU.
Important: It is recommended to submit your application for credit transfer as soon as you have been successfully admitted to your study program at MU and as soon as you can attach all supporting documents. Incomplete requests, and requests submitted after the deadline, will not be considered.
Step 3: The Dean of your study program will assess your request for credit transfer. Within a few days, you will receive notification from the Academic Office on whether your application for credit transfer has been approved.
